FEA Refinements Boost Capabilities

FEA

One of the more enjoyable aspects of living in a technological age is the ease with which we can access news and information. At any moment, we can learn about new inventions and fresh developments in any number of industries.

Just recently, an announcement of advancements in Finite Element Analysis (FEA) capabilities grabbed the attention of the hydroforming community.

Recent FEA Advancements

Early in 2019, software company IronCAD announced an update to MPIC, its FEA tool. Available only to users of their Advanced package, the new add-ons include rigid body kinematic capabilities, an updated user interface, and enhanced multithread controls.

According to Chuck Paulsen…the newest version of MPIC, “is a first in CAE applications to easily and seamlessly utilize both rigid and flex body formulations to analyze CAD assemblies quickly and accurately from early concept to final stage design.” (Engineering.com)

Though IronCAD’s MPIC this is not the only FEA tool on the market, this announcement caught our attention, both because it can benefit specific types of production and because of what it means for the industry as a whole.

Why This Matters

While not every product requires the sort of capabilities listed above, we still love hearing about the latest advancements in FEA. News of this type signals growth and vigor in the industry, and that’s never a bad thing.

Over the years, we have seen first-hand how Finite Element Analysis leads to lower overall production costs, higher quality products, and more satisfied customers. In our view, the more systems and components that can be analyzed through FEA, the better.

Could your product be the next to benefit?
